I guess it's safe now to say that I am going to Seoul (yes, I know, a g a i n) this August. But it's different this time! I'll be studying in one of the universities, under the korean language program. One of my goals this year is to take the TOPIK test, and I thought it would be best to brush up (& learn more) my korean at the country itself. Really hope I can speak the language more fluently when I am back!
A lot of universities in Seoul (not sure about the other cities) provide these korean language programs. Some of the more popular ones will be - SNU, Yonsei, Kyunghee and Korea Uni. There are a few programs to choose from, ranging from as short as 3 weeks to as long as 3 months; usually held during summer and winter. The starting dates and cost of each program also varies according to the universities.
I've been doing research on the different programs under different universities since last year, and finally decided on SNU's 3 weeks (6 Aug - 24 Aug) intensive program. My original plan was to apply for the 3 months program in September, but it clashes with Big Bang's Alive Tour in Singapore. ><
Applying for the program is relatively easy since they allow online application. For SNU, you'll have to create an account. Log in, and apply for your preferred program. SNU has an application fee of 50,000won, and the tuition fee for the program is 650,000won. I had trouble paying the application fee through the online credit card payment, so I emailed the school. They then informed me that the online payment doesn't work in some countries, so I had to do a wire transfer. To save on the remittance fee, I was told to transfer the application fee and tuition fee at one go. I believe they provide accommodation too, but I'll be finding my own accommodation because I don't think they have dorm available for me for just 3 weeks.
Waiting for their reply currently! Let's hope everything goes well, and I would be in Seoul soon!! Actually thinking if I should fly in a week earlier so I can attend 2NE1's concert. Hehe.
